Sargsyan: Gyumri case should be solved with unprecedented consistency
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received on Tuesday Chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin.
“The Armenian president said that the tragedy that occurred in the city of Gyumri on January 12 requires that all the circumstances should be revealed with unprecedented consistency. The president considered it important that the cooperation established between Armenian and Russian law enforcers on the case under investigation will have an effective continuation and the process will be brought to its logical conclusion,” the presidential press service said.
Alexander Bastrykin said there is mutual understanding with Armenian colleagues and a clear vision of assistance to be given to Armenian law enforcement agencies by Russian competent bodies during the investigative actions.
The purpose of the actions taken by Russian competent bodies both at the military base in Gyumri and in the territory of the Russian Federation is to ensure a comprehensive investigation of all motives for the murder and the circumstances of the case, to find those guilty and inflict inevitable punishment. A. Bastrykin expressed confidence that a public trial to be held in the territory of Armenia will bear evidence of the sides’ desire to achieve justice.
