Minasyan: Gyumri events will not affect Armenian-Russian relations
The Gyumri events will not affect Armenian-Russian relations, political scientist Sergey Minasyan told reporters today.
According to him, opinions expressed in social media are mainly based on emotions.
He at the same time said that the third crime of Russian soldier Valery Permyakov – in addition to murder of seven people and desertion – his attempt to cross the Armenian-Turkish border has been ignored.
“The Armenian side should deal with this issue as well,” Minasyan said.
From a legal point of view, Valery Permyakov should be handed over to Armenia, the political scientist said.
“The argument of Russian Prosecutor’s Office to the effect that Russia does not hand over its citizens to a foreign state is vulnerable. Permyakov committed a crime not in the territory of Russia, but in the territory of Armenia – in the city of Gyumri. He shall be tried under Armenian laws,” S. Minasyan said.
