Tigran Sargsyan meets Congressman Adam Schiff
Armenian Ambassador to the US Tigran Sargsyan met with Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) on January 22, Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
The interlocutors touched upon the issues on the agenda of the Armenian Caucus of the US Congress.
They discussed the current situation in the region, in particular the escalation of tension along the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact and the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. In this context, Congressman Schiff stressed the priority of efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region. Ambassador Sargsyan said the active role and position of the U.S. and the international community is crucial in this matter.
The sides underlined the importance of attracting U.S. investment into Armenia, noting the expertise in IT industry and cooperation with enterprises and investors of the Silicon Valley.
At the request of Adam Schiff, T. Sargsyan spoke about Armenia’s recent accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the prospects of the republic’s participation in EEU.
Ambassador Sargsyan briefed Adam Schiff on preparations for the commemorative events of the Armenian Genocide Centennial and stressed the importance of US Congress members’ participation in these events.
