Lawyer not informed of V. Permyakov’s mental evaluation results
The Armenian side did not schedule a mental evaluation of Valery Permyakov, a conscript of the Russian military base who is charged with killing seven members of an Armenian family in Gyumri.
“I have no official information that Permyakov was found sane following a test. The Armenian side did not schedule a mental evaluation. The matter probably concerns the Russian side. It is possible that Russian investigators ordered such a test. I received unofficial information about it,” Yerem Sargsyan, the lawyer of the murdered family’s legal successors, told reporters Tuesday when commenting on recent reports about the test results.
The Avetisyans were killed in the city of Gyumri on January 12, 2015. Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the Russian 102nd military base in Armenia, is charged with the killings. He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Armenia’s Investigative Committee earlier granted an application allowing the legal successors of the murdered family to participate in tests.
