Sergey Minasyan: Tsarukyan may still return
The hasty actions and wrong calculations of Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) resulted in its current situation, political scientist Sergey Minasyan told reporters today.
According to him, the statement of the BHK’s new leader to the effect that the party is now an opposition force did not surprise him.
“Gagik Tsarukyan’s speech at the February forum implied that the party was going to act in the opposition field. It was evident from their demands for early elections. But I am sure that Tsarukyan made the greatest mistake in 2012 when he failed to run in the elections by consolidating the opposition,” Minasyan said.
He said that although Tsarukyan announced his decision to quit active politics, his return with the aim of running in the 2018 presidential election is not ruled out, even though problems will face the ex-leader of BHK.
“The image of a political figure is of importance, while Tsarukyan has retreated twice. I think it will be hard for him to win the people’s trust once again, but nothing can be ruled out,” the political scientist said.
