Armenian church bells not to ring only in Turkey on Apr 23
On April 23, bells in all the Armenian churches around the globe will ring commemorating the Armenian Genocide centennial. The Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople, however, will not join the initiative, Agos reports.
Catholicos of Armenians, His Holiness Karekin II had previously ordered all the Armenian churches to serve a liturgy on April 23 to honor the memory of the innocent victims.
Bells in Armenian churches all around the world will ring for 100 times April 23, 7:15pm.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Aram Ateshian, General Vicar (Acting Patriarch) of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople mentioned that an event is scheduled to be held on April 24, but the bells will not ring. Instead, Ateshian will serve a liturgy on April 22 for the Armenian soldiers that fell in the battle of Canakkale.
