Iskandaryan comments upon regional policy of Russia
Director of Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandaryan addressed information about sales of Russian S-300 missiles to Azerbaijan at a meeting with reporters mentioning that it is early to speak about the reliability of the information. He noted that such large-scale transactions are reported to international organizations, while there is no report for the present.
He stressed that Russia cannot cooperate with Azerbaijan by disregarding Armenia’s interests, Russia’s relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan aim at keeping regional stability.
Speaking about the amendment to the agreement on the Russian military base in Armenia Iskandaryan considered it normal denying the idea that allegedly it reduces Armenia’s independence and Armenia cannot invalidate the agreement in 49 years.
