Where Cave Areni ends, Godedzor begins; archeological findings
Director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of National Science Academy of Armenia, chief of the archeological expedition Pavel Avetisian told media Friday about archaeological excavation at the place of Godedzor near Angeghakot village of Syunik province of Armenia.
He said that among findings most interesting are sealing waxes. Discovered on the Armenian Highland sealing waxes show that those times people could deal and fixed their property. The findings, according to Pavel Avetisian, date back to 3,600-3,400 BCE.
“This ancient settlement gives us understanding of a great period, the final stage of the Bronze Age,” said Pavel Avetisian.
Speaking about parallels between ancient settlement of Areni in Vayots Dzor region and place of Godedzor in Syunik province, Avetisian said that the upper layer of the settlement in Areni also dates back to period of Copper-Stone Age – Chalcolithic.”
“At the place where the first cave of Areni ends, Godedzor begins,” said Avetisian. He said that the two settlements show a holistic and serial picture of the times which date back to Chalcolithic-era, and specifically to late V – mid IV millennium BCE.
