CC to study agreement on Russian military base in Gyumri
Armenia’s Constitutional Court today will consider correspondence to the Republic of Armenia Constitution of the agreement on extending the term of Russian military base in Gyumri, CC spokesman Hovhannes Papikyan told RIA Novosti.
In his words, if the agreement does not contradict the Constitution, it will be submitted to the National Assembly for ratification.
President Serzh Sargsyan sent the Armenian-Russian agreement to the Constitutional Court on December 24, 2010.
The agreement on extending the term of Russian military base was signed during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Yerevan between August 19 and 21, 2010.
According to the Armenian-Russian agreement, the term of deployment of the Russian military base in Gyumri is extended for 49 years.
