Today is World Sight Day
World Sight Day (WSD) is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment it is being held by the World Health Organization.
Included on the official World Health Organization calendar, WSD is co-ordinated by IAPB under the VISION 2020 Global Initiative.
There are 284 mln people in the world who have sight problems of which 39 are completely blind.
According to the experts 80% of the blind cases can be prevented due to treating it on time.
In some countries people get an opportunity to pass a free sight examination.
