D. Babayan: “France represents Europe’s approach”
Speaking about French President N. Sarkozy’s visit to Armenia and the opinions that it was directly connected to the more active role France has adopted in the NKR conflict settlement and the involvement of the NKR into the negotiation process head of Artsakh President’s press office, political scientist David Babayan said they have emphasized for many times that no conflict settlement can be expected without Karabakh’s participation.
“France, Russia, the US and Armenia realize this. Azerbaijan understands this too but it obviously does not want to settle the conflict in a way the international community wants,” D. Babayan told.
The political scientist thinks that France has a rather active role in NKR conflict settlement, but it needs a series of approaches in order to strengthen its role.
“Taking into consideration the geographical distance of France, its potential … it should be noted that it will have a positive role from the point of view of peace and stability preservation. The fact that French President stated in Baku that war is ruled out is very important. It means that France represents viewpoint of Europe, which is considering unacceptable any deconstructive step,” D. Babayan mentioned in the interview given to Aysor.am.
