Armenian-Russian Friendship Monument set up in Yerevan
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended today the unveiling of the centuries-old Armenian-Russian Friendship Monument in downtown Yerevan.
Co-chairmen of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission - Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Russian Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov unveiled the monument, according to the presidential press service.
A copy of this monument in Yerevan was set up in Moscow, at Nikitskiey Vorota Square. The pedestal bears the inscription “Blessed is the Friendship of the Armenian and Russian Peoples”.
The monument depicts two young women holding a Christian cross and bending over it.
