Eleventh forum of Francophone NGOs opens in Yerevan
Eleventh forum of Francophone NGOs opened today in Yerevan with the participation of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie Michaëlle Jean.
At the opening speech the PM welcomed all the participants of the event and added that the recent developments in Armenia defined the strength of the civil movement.
“The participation of young people, women and men in these events showed the importance of the civil society, democracy, solidarity values we share today with all our Francophone friends,” he said, adding that the country has an important commitment to conduct Francophone summit in Yerevan. “I want to assure that our government and the whole Armenia have mobilized their forces for hosting the summit guests with best hospitality traditions,” the PM stressed, voicing conviction that the summit will be unforgettable and successful.
Secretary General of the organization in her turn stressed that it is a great honor to conduct the organization’s summit in a country where velvet revolution and peaceful transition of power have taken place. She said she had an opportunity to meet young people who assumed civil responsibility to develop the achievements of the revolution.
Over 200 NGO representatives from Francophone countries are participating in the event.
