“Alternative” should replace “opposition” term in parliamentary system: Stepan Grigoryan
The December 9 elections were more transparent as compared with the previous ones, political analyst, Sasna Tsrer list candidate Stepan Grigoryan told the reporters today.
“It was not normal that the PM had no majority in the National Assembly. Now he has it, and this corresponds to the logic of parliamentary system,” Grigoryan said.
He said Sasna Tsrer has registered quite serious result at the elections.
“Twenty-three votes is a serious result if to consider that the party has been registered on November 8, though our expectations were more,” he said.
“A political force having alternative approaches has appeared in the political field, if we appeared in the parliament it would have been much better as we would have been another pole in the NA,” he said.
The political expert also said that he does not consider it right to use ‘opposition’ term for the parliamentary system. “For this system I consider it right to use terms ‘alternative’ and ‘other pole’. These terms will counter-balance the ruling force ideologically,” he said.
