Moscow to assist Karabakh conflicting parties in implementation of Vienna arrangements: Russian MFA spokesperson
Moscow will provide necessary support to Baku and Yerevan for the implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Vienna, Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in an interview to Azerbaijani ONA news agency.
“Support to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflicting parties is among the important foreign political priorities of Russia. This circumstance gives special significance to the implementation of mediatory activity and defines the highest attention to the results,” the Russian diplomat said, adding that they are working in close collaboration with the other OSCE Minsk Group countries.
Speaking about the change of the political leadership in Armenia, Zakharova stressed that it is Armenia’s domestic affair.
“The negotiation process over Nagorno Karabaklh conflict settlement continues. The parties demonstrate the intention to continue the works aimed at reaching peaceful regulation,” she said.
She also noted that the readiness has been fixed in the statement made after the meeting in Vienna.
“We hail the constructive approach that prevailed in negotiations. We will provide all the necessary assistance to bring to life the ideas over which arrangement has been reached in the Austrian capital,” the Russian MFA representative said.
“Nevertheless, as the presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group countries have stated the responsibility for putting an end to the conflict lays on the involved parties,” Zakharova said, adding that the basis exists for it. “It is just necessary to display political will,” she stressed.
