Armenia’s Emergency Situations Ministry serves 1 million calls in six months
During the past six months the Emergency Situations Ministry has served 1 million calls, and 2 million during the year, Emergency Situations Minister Felix Tsolakyan said at a news conference today.
“Not always the calls are of emergency nature, there are cases when people call to learn the weather, or dial wrong number. During the past 6 months we had 2,300 cases of calls about rockfall, landslides. The rescuers also participate in eliminating consequences of traffic accidents.
Lives of people are being saved but unfortunately cases with lethal outcome are also being registered,” the minister said, urging the people to be attentive.
Tsolakyan said Armenia’s emergency service is of high quality due to everyday hard work which allows it in case of necessity in emergency situations help colleagues of other countries.
The minister said during the past years the rescuers four times received rewards in the amount of their salary. He also said in the beginning of the year the Ministry received 10 off-road vehicles, 18 fire trucks and it is intended to receive another 20.
