Revise of general education programs is a must: expert
The initiative to change the secondary education program has matured long ago and was intended to be carried out still in 2016, education expert Serob Khachatryan told Aysor.am, referring to the statement of deputy education and science minister Arevik Anapiosyan that the ministry is planning to start the 2021-2022 academic year with a completely changed programs and textbooks.
“Last time we worked out programs in 2005-2006. After it the programs were intermediately reviewed. About 15 years have passed and the review of the program is a must and has even been late. The changes were delayed due to the change of power and the minister. This is a proper time to start the changes,” the expert said, voicing hope that new educational programs will be worked out in the upcoming 1-2 years.
Khachatryan though said that there are some programs in the education sector that may be reviewed rarely, but it is not the ones relating to the general education.
Speaking about the general level of education quality in the region, the expert said that Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan are moving forward with almost the same tempo.
“It is not the case when any of the country is more developed than the other, we are speaking about equal opportunities,” Khachatryan said.
