Armenia needs centers focusing on Russian affairs: political analyst
Political analyst Tevan Poghosyan offered today at the Armenia-Russia: Searching New Prospects to open chairs of Russian studies at few universities in Armenia. The expert said it will help to understand Russia’s interests in the region and study the country more thoroughly.
“We do not have experts in Russian affairs. We thought that if we are studying Russian in schools we know everything about that country. If we understand that we need centers for European studies, centers of Oriental studies why should not we have ones for studying Russia,” the expert said.
“In Russia too change of generation takes place, new people are coming with new interests, situations change. To be ready for everything we must be able to predict scenarios, to be able to understand the country. Russia is an interesting phenomenon with its mentality and institutions,” Poghosyan said.
