No one cares of the university more than I do: YSUE lecturer
Lecturer of Yerevan State University of Economics Armen Karakhanyan claims that the contest of lecturers of the university passed with violations of law and rules.
“If to view the criteria set for the participation in the contest, you will see that the majority of them are subjective and the election was subjective too. The other part of the criteria has nothing to do with professional skills,” Karakhanyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
A group of lecturers of the university filed a lawsuit against the acting rector of the university Ruben Hayrapetyan claiming that the competition announced by him contradicts the law about Higher Education.
In his turn Hayrapetyan states that contests have been conducted previously as well but were of formal nature, moreover bands were acting in the university acting from their narrow interests.
Karakhanyan said no one claims that the previous system was perfect and had no flaws. “Reforms are necessary we have many times stated about it, but they must be in the limits of law,” he stressed, adding that he did not participate in the contest but hopes to continue working in the university from September.
“I hope we will work in the university from September but he [meaning the acting rector Ruben Hayrapetyan] will not. How can he work after so many falsifications?!” Karakhanyan said.
“No one cares of the university as much as I do, I have spent the 25 years of my life there, not counting the years when I was a student. I had administrative posts there, I had a great contribution to the development of the university,” he said, adding that a person working there for few years and trying to satisfy own ambitions must think about the university.
“It is a painful issue for me. I have stated from the very beginning that there will not be winners and losers, the only winner is the university,” the lecturer said, adding that he will not allow encroachment of his rights.
