Municipality implements its commitments before Sanitek but the company fails to do its work: Yerevan mayor briefs to PM
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has conducted today a live working consultation with Yerevan mayor Hayk Marutyan.
The premier was particularly interested in the garbage removal issue and activity of Sanitek trying to understand why the contract commitments are not being implemented by the company.
In response the mayor said that the company is not implementing its commitments especially after political processes in the country. As to whether the municipality has carried out its commitments, the mayor said the municipality’s only commitment is to pay the sum, which was clearly done in accordance with the schedule.
“The money is being accurately transferred it remains for the company to accurately do its work,” the mayor stressed.
As to in that case why the company is not doing it, the mayor said it is agreed with the worn out, destroyed equipment of the company. Marutyan stressed that the company had commitment to place 16,000 iron garbage bins in Yerevan while it has only placed 100 iron bins, overall there are 5,000 garbage bins in Yerevan.
The mayor also said the garbage bins must be emptied in case they are filled by 80%, if the company is not doing it, its work is considered not done. In such case the municipality informs the company if it again does not empty them it fines the company.
“After such warnings we have fined the company but they claim that the fine is ungrounded and have filed a lawsuit against us, claiming that it affected their work,” the mayor said.
“They claim that these fines are ungrounded while I say that every day 1 million people go to streets and see that they are grounded,” the mayor stressed.
