Armenia’s parliament adopts number of legislative initiatives
Armenia’s National Assembly put for voting today all the bills discussed yesterday. Part of them, submitted by the parliamentary opposition, was not approved.
In particular the NA failed to approve the legislative initiative submitted by Prosperous Armenia party lawmaker Mikayel Melkumyan who offered amendments into the Tax legislation.
The lawmaker offers seizing VAT after completing the import transaction. “It is a simple step by which we refuse seizing VAT on the border. Business is not obliged to loan the state free,” Melkumyan said.
Chairman of the Economic Affairs Standing Committee Babken Tunyan reminded that the commission gave positive conclusion to the bill with restriction and added that after yesterday’s discussion of the bill he would vote against it.
The lawmakers though backed Melkumyan’s another initiative on making amendments in the law about Water User companies.
The initiative was backed with 97 for and 3 against.
At yesterday’s discussion Melkumyan stressed that the acting law lacks more applicable legal grounds of transparent management of water as well as legal grounds for carrying out control of fair distribution of water among the water users.
He said his initiative will ensure better control of the irrigation water and the cases of abuses will reduce.
