Servicemen Insurance Fund pays compensations to almost 370 families of killed and disabled servicemen
The Servicemen Insurance Fund acting for over two years managed to implement its commitments during the period of activity, said director Varuzhan Avetikyan speaking to reporters on Friday.
“Since January 1, 2017 we have paid compensations to almost 370 families of servicemen who were killed or acquired disability during the military service. Compensations totaling 1,3 billion AMD have been paid,” he said, adding that the main entries of the fund are the 1,000 AMD paid monthly by each working citizen in Armenia and Artsakh.
Avetikyan said during this period they have gathered over 18 billion AMD.
The speaker said that the Fund pays to families of killed servicemen and those who received first and second degree disability during their military service.
“After the law entered into effect it obliged the Fund compensate for the cases after January 1, 2017 but during the time we have seen that with the gathered money we have an opportunity to compensate for the cases registered in 2015 and 2016. Corresponding decision was made by the Board of Trustees of the fund,” he said, adding that the board also made a decision to compensate the cases registered from 2008-2014.
Avetikyan said their final goal is to compensate to all those who acquired disability during their military service.
He said the sum of compensation is from 52-82 million AMD.
“This is in case of first degree disability and killed servicemen. Fifty-two million is paid to privates, 72 to subalterns and 82 million to officer staff. In case of second degree the compensation makes 26-52 million AMD,” he said, adding that the sum is not being given as one-time allowance. First 10 million is paid for the first degree disability and to families of killed servicemen, after it 200,000-300,000 AMD monthly for 20 years.
Those with second degree of disability receive 5 million AMD one-time allowance and 100-200 thousand AMD monthly for 20 years.
