Amulsar to stay a mountain: Jermuk, Gndevaz residents take to streets protesting against mine exploitation
Residents of Jermuk and Gndevaz communities declared a strike from early in the morning today joined by students and pupils, who in their turn refused to go to classes.
The people took to streets shouting “Amulsar only mount, Lydian, go away!"
One of the residents stated that if Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan keeps stating that the mine must work he will personally organize the process of suing the Republic of Armenia in international instances.
Owners of markets joined the protestors too.
“If Amulsar mine opens, who will need these shops, what will people do? We will not know where to go,” they stated.
