Discussions on expanding presence of Russia's border guards in Armenia ongoing - ambassador
Substantial discussions on expanding the presence of Russian border guards on the disputed sections of Armenian-Azerbaijani border continue, Russian ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin told the reporters on Wednesday, Armenpress reports.
The answer came in response to the question about arrangements on withdrawal of Armenian and Azerbaijani subdivisions from Sotk-Khoznavar section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and deployment of international observers to ease the tension as proposed by Armenia's PM.
"Substantial consultations are ongoing over the mentioned issues, these issues are being discussed, including in practical sense. After corresponding decisions are adopted we will get informed about them," the ambassador said, adding that issues on expanding presence of Russian border guards are being discussed.
"I think everything will be decided based on ensuring Armenia's security, border stability and interests of implementation of the arrangements reached in trilateral format," the ambassador said.
