Every 900 people in 80-million populated Turkey account a mosque
In line with some counting sources, there are nearly 80,636 mosques in Turkey, and this shows that every mosque accounts for 900 people out of total Turkey’s population.
Infoislam.ru reported that number of mosques in Turkey varies conditionally to population and geographical conditions of country’s regions.
Most mosques are in Istanbul, which is the biggest Turkey’s city in terms of population as 12,915,158 people live here. Istanbul’s mosques are equal to 3,032. Konya with population of 1,992,675 comes in as the second town with a large number of mosques -- here are 2,960 mosques. The third is Ankara with 4,650,802 people and 2,731 mosques.
Samsun town comes in the forth with a 1,250,076 population and 2,597 mosques. Among Turkish cities with great number of mosques are Kastamonu (2,514 mosques), Antalya (2,023 mosques), and Ordu (1,955 mosques).
In Tunceli town of 83,061 people there are only 116 mosques. Among towns with low number of mosques are also Yalova (population – 202,532, mosques – 144), Kilis (population – 122, 104, mosques -- 194), and Igdir (population -- 183,486, mosques – 223).
