Serzh Sargsyan: Progress is evident in work of Armenian Police
Progress is evident in the work of the Armenian Police in the recent period, which is a result of several successful reforms as well as psychological changes in society, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said in his congratulatory address on the 96th anniversary of the creation of the Armenian Police.
According to the president, in any country, the work of law enforcement agencies is in the public spotlight, while the image and conduct of policemen is associated with the image of the country so he called upon Armenian policemen to realize the additional responsibility their profession imposes on them.
Serzh Sargsyan said that there has been a positive change not only in the public’s attitude to policemen, but also in the attitude of law enforcers to citizens. “Of course, we are still far from our goal, but we are on the right path and we have made achievements,” the statement reads.
“Armenian citizens entrusted the protection of their property and public order to you. Your work shows that you deserve their confidence. Unfortunately, there are still those abusing this confidence. I am sure that we will be ruthless to these phenomena, which discredit the policeman. Such resolute behavior is already visible in our ranks,” the message says.
The president wished the police employees and veterans good health, success, and the ability to keep pace with the times, display professional skills, and take a principled stand.
