Armenian president receives French MPs
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received a delegation of French Senate’s Armenia-France Friendship Group led by Philippe Kaltenbach. He welcomed the fact that more and more French MPs visit the Nagorno Karabakh Republic during their trips to Armenia.
S. Sargsyan said that visits of French MPs to Armenia have become more frequent in recent years. In his words, mutual visits and contacts at the high level allow becoming familiar with the situation in the country and discussing issues of mutual interest. Serzh Sargsyan noted that French parliamentarians’ visits to the NKR are important from the viewpoint of resolving the Karabakh problem, getting information about the prehistory of the conflict and sharing that information and impressions with colleagues.
P. Kaltenbach noted with satisfaction that France is an old friend of Armenia and has always stood by its side. According to him, members of the French parliament will make every effort to deepen and strengthen bilateral ties.
The interlocutors exchanged opinions about the current geopolitical situation and the Karabakh peaceful settlement. In this connection Philippe Kaltenbach expressed hope that the upcoming trilateral meeting of the presidents at the initiative of French President Francois Hollande will allow finding new opportunities for a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
