Armenian president meets Jordan’s parliament heads
During his official visit to Jordan, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met yesterday with President of the Senate Abdel Rauf al-Ravabeh and Speaker of the House of Representatives Atef Yousef Salah al-Tarauna, according to the presidential press service.
The sides underlined the importance of interparliamentary links in the promotion of relations and the formation of a broad agenda of cooperation between the two states. The interlocutors expressed regret that relations of the two legislative bodies are not at the desirable level yet.
It was stated that the official visit of the president was a good occasion to discuss opportunities and prospects of developing cooperation between the parliaments.
On behalf of Armenia, President Sargsyan expressed a willingness to take active measures to intensify interparliamentary ties and stressed the importance of mutual visits of parliamentary delegations and interparliamentary friendship groups.
In Amman, Serzh Sargsyan visited the National Museum of Jordan where familiarized himself with exhibits presenting the country’s history and made an inscription in the guest book.
“I really became convinced that I am now in one of the world’s most ancient countries. The history of Jordan displayed in this majestic museum is graphic evidence of that,” the president said adding that Jordan’s history is full of unspoken examples of tolerance and dialog of various civilizations.
S. Sargsyan thanked the authorities and people of Jordan for providing an opportunity to visit the museum.
