With all due respect to Armenia’s former presidents, it is time for new leaders – Narek Karapetyan
For national unity to be achieved, Armenia needs a new leader, said Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the “Our Way” movement, during his address at the movement’s 2025 reporting meeting.
Karapetyan noted that society holds differing views toward former leaders, with some accepting them and others rejecting them.
“Society is divided, yet no one fully agrees with anyone else, because people do not see a unifying force in any figure. With all due respect to all presidents of the Republic of Armenia, they have carried out work that we respect. However, in the future Armenia, it is not their time either; it is the time for new leaders. We need a leader who does not provoke negative attitudes in society and who is ready to show forgiveness even toward many representatives of the current government, in order to break this cycle of hatred,” he said.
Karapetyan acknowledged that his remarks may not be well received by many in the opposition, but emphasized that, in his view, this is the only path forward.
“This is the only way – a new leader for the Republic of Armenia,” he concluded.
