Muslim Brotherhood prepares protests
The Muslim Brotherhood maneuvered Tuesday to cement its victory claim in Egypt’s historic presidential election as it called on demonstrators to take to the streets to protest a military decree that weakens the role of the presidency, the Washington Post reports.
Officials from the campaign of Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsi presented local-level polling records that they said showed he beat rival Ahmed Shafiq by about 900,000 votes. The campaign said it obtained the records from local election officials.
