Narek Sargsyan: It’s too early to assess Northern Avenue
Serious actions are expected in urban development in 2015-2016, Armenian Minister of Urban Development Narek Sargsyan said at the final 2014 press conference today.
In his words, the first seven months of his tenure as urban development minister were dedicated to designs to solve problems, and 2015 will be a difficult year as it is planned to start the phase of implementing the programs and ensure tangible results.
There are numerous problems of various nature, Narek Sargsyan said.
The problem of proportional territorial development and investor attraction is of strategic importance.
The minister said the problem of compensation to residents of Ferdusi Street in Yerevan will be settled next year.
As regards legislative initiatives, N. Sargsyan mentioned the draft bill on the development of Yerevan’s “small center” to prevent hyper urbanization of the city center and resolve the problem of unfinished buildings.
Besides, an expert center will open in 2015.
Narek Sargsyan stressed once again the importance of Northern Avenue’s construction. He said it is too early to assess Northern Avenue as all large projects receive a hostile reception at first, but later they may get a correct assessment.
