Galust Sahakyan not inclined to strip Tsarukyan of deputy mandate
Speaker of the Armenian parliament Galust Sahakyan believes that Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) should develop a new strategy. He found it difficult to say who may become the new leader of BHK.
“I think that the pause is due to the fact that a new political situation has emerged and the faction members have to hold discussions and take new decisions,” Sahakyan said.
As regards BHK leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s absence from parliamentary sittings on many occasions, the speaker said that although there are all the reasons from a legal viewpoint, they expect additional answers from Tsarukyan.
When speaking about the possibility of stripping Tsarukyan of his mandate as deputy, Galust Sahakyan noted he is not inclined to set such a precedent.
“I would not like us to set such precedents. When there is a precedent in politics, then people are guided by it,” the speaker noted.
