Armenian president attends events on 150th anniversary of painter Terlemezyan
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited today Yerevan State Art College after Panos Terlemezyan to attend the festive events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the famous painter Terlemezyan, according to the presidential press service.
The president familiarized himself with the college and then participated in the opening of an exhibition of works by the painters who teach at the Terlemezyan Art College.
A postage stamp cancellation ceremony was held as part of the anniversary events, followed by the presentation of the commemorative coin “Panos Terlemezyan – 150” issued by the Central Bank of Armenia. Fragments of Terlemezyan’s paintings “Lake Van” and “A View of Sipan Mount from Ktuts Island” appear on the observe, while fragments of the painter’s self-portrait and his painting “Tatev Monastery” are on the reverse of the coin.
The presentation of an album published on the occasion of the painter’s anniversary also took place at Panos Terlemezyan College. The commemorative album contains the biographies of painters who taught at the college in the Soviet era and the post-Soviet time as well as their works.
