Armenian parliament dissolves after lawmakers again fail to elect Nikol Pashinyan as Armenia’s PM
As it was expected prime ministerial candidate Nikol Pashinyan has not been elected today in the post of the country’s PM.
No lawmakers voted for or against the candidate. Thirteen MPs abstained from voting.
Before the voting the faction representatives stated that they were not going to participate in the voting.
This was the third time when Pashinyan is not being elected, with the first time being on May 1. The last two times on October 24 and today, the nominations were formal and he was not supposed to be elected.
According to law, the National Assembly is being dissolved after failing to elect prime minister for the second time.
Addressing the present, Pashinyan described the moment as historical.
“Today in the evening or tomorrow from early in the morning we will have a situation when a country does not have NA, government. We will manage to ensure legal elections the results of which will be formed by the expression of will of the Armenian people. In December the people will have an opportunity to decide the further fate of the Republic of Armenia. I am sure, the people will firmly keep the power in their hands,” Pashinyan stressed.
