Armenia’s education system lacks in-depth knowledge: expert
There is no need of changing the whole list of subjects in schools, expert in education Serob Khachatryan said, speaking to Aysor.am, referring to the statement of education and science minister about the necessity to review the subjects taught in schools.
“The main subjects must remain. The number of subjects of general education is stable in the whole world. One-two subjects may be added or cut but the whole list of subjects cannot be reviewed,” he said.
Speaking about the chess Khachatryan said that there are big opportunities to develop this subject in schools and if the program and the text books are reviewed the subject may be quite effective.
“We need gaming subjects in schools. They help to develop students,” he said.
The expert also expressed conviction that it is necessary to deepen the level of the knowledge.
“We lack in-depth knowledge. Children must know not much but their knowledge must be in-depth,” he said, stressing that if you have superficial knowledge of something it means you do not know anything.
