Government approved programs of reconstruction of 46 schools: minister
It is a fact that the phantom of the old Armenia continues pursuing us, as many issues have not received their solutions yet, territorial administration and development minister Suren Papikyan said today at the Educational Issues in old villages of new Armenia discussion.
“With the help of the Asian Development Bank we are trying to reconstruct schools in seismically dangerous zone. Initially we planned to renovate them but the studies showed that the majority of the schools must be ruined and new ones be built,” the minister said, adding that as of now the government has approved the reconstruction projects of 46 schools.
“This year we are planning to launch reconstruction of 31 schools. Currently seven schools are being reconstructed and part of them will be exploited already in the second half of the year,” the minister said.
At the same time Papikyan noted that the government has allocated 660 million AMD for ensuring proper school heating and renovation of roofs.
“The communities as well are trying to solve their issues on their own and with state’s co-funding. As a result we have received applications of renovations of 52 pre-educational establishments,” the minister said stressing, that last year they have renovated 14 kindergartens.
