Armenia’s PM’s spouse Anna Hakobyan talks about Women for Peace Initiative in U.S. Congress
Spouse of Armenia’s Prime Minister Anna Hakobyan spoke in U.S. Congress and Carnegie Foundation about Women for Peace Initiative.
“As a woman and a mother I am convinced that the most valuable thing in the world is human life. Many young people become victims of conflicts. The goal of our initiative is to prevent the loss of human lives from all sides. If women unite and call not to kill their children, irrespective of their nationality, if they urge the politicians measure their strength around the table of negotiations their voice will be heard. Democracy plays a significant role in establishing stable peace. Democratic states do not fight with each other. Armenia has made a step toward it,” Anna Hakobyan said.
Earlier Anna Hakobyan stated that she has made a decision to temporarily suspend the initiative, noting that the interest toward it was more than she expected.
“The response is positive both in Armenia and outside of it. But as far as it created a wide resonance I decided to take a break to think over the further steps thoroughly,” Hakobyan said.
