Police officers injured at March 1, 2008 events to get assistance if acquitted
Police officers suffered during March 1, 2008 events in Yerevan will not get compensation unless the criminal persecution against then is stopped and they are acquitted.
The bill about assistance to the people suffered during March 1-2, 2008 events in Yerevan has been authored by vice speakers from My Step faction Alen Simonyan and Lena Nazaryan.
The bill offers assistance to the successors of those killed during the events and to those who received grave or medium injuries.
The form of provision of assistance will be set by the executive power.
“To make the law more certain I have presented few proposals to the authors which were discussed and approved at the State-Legal Affairs Standing Committee,” lawmaker from My Step faction Sisak Gabrielyan said, adding that they have offered the police officers who implemented their duties and suffered from injuries get use of the law only in case if they were not criminally persecuted or were acquitted.
He said those who suffered but were criminally persecuted will not get assistance.
Gabrielyan also said he offered to clarify what is meant by grave, medium injuries.
Besides citizens are to present the conclusion of expert to ground that they were injured.
