Conscript Yuri Broyan expected to be demobilized: lawyer
Conscript Yuri Broyan is passing medical investigation, his lawyer Hayarpi Sargsyan told Aysor.am. She said no positive changes have been registered in his health condition.
She said lawmakers Naira Zohrabyan, Shake Isayan, Sofia Hovsepyan and Ombudsman visited the conscript.
To the comment about the changes made by the government on not mobilizing young people with mental retardation and whether a decision has already made over Broyan, the lawyer said that the medical examination results are yet to be approved by the final conclusion, besides he is already expected to be demobilized.
Yuri Broyan was transported to Kanaz hospital on July 18. He was mobilized in August 2018. After ten days of his service he was beaten by battalion commander and kept isolated. He tried to harm himself after which was transported to Kanaz hospital. As a result he lost ability to speak and fell in concussions.
On July 15 Defense Ministry’s military police issued a statement, noting that conscript Broyan was discharged from hospital and went in unknown direction.
“The military police contacted with his mother, who stated that her son will not return to the military unit,” the statement said.
Defense Ministry spokesperson Artsrun Hovhannisyan stated that the ministry is successive in Broyan’s issue and in the issue of not mobilizing citizens with any health issues.
