YSU students resume strike in front of YSU acting rector’s office
Students of the YSU Philology and History Faculty resumed strike today. They currently gathered in front of the office of the acting rector of the University Gegham Gevorgyan and demand meeting with him.
Speaking to reporters YSU student programs' coordinator Edward Galstyan said they are conducting silent action clearly realizing the importance of the right of other students attending the classes and necessity to maintain the academic atmosphere inside the university.
“We are expecting to meet with the rector, we also expect clarification on why the issues relating to the Armenian language, Armenian literature and Armenian history subjects are not being discussed at scientific council,” he said, adding that they have received a response to their letter the provisions of which were of strictly declarative nature.
“We want to understand why extraordinary session of the scientific council is not being convened,” the YSU student said.
Asked what the next steps will be in case the rector refuses to meet them, Galstyan said the protest actions will continue.
