Importers of clothes and shoes gather outside Government building complaining of new customs clearance method
Businessmen importing clothes are carrying out protest action outside the government building.
They are complaining of the changed method of customs clearance which entered into force from September 1.
Hence the customs clearance methods will be the same as for the rest of products. It will not be done per kilo but each piece must be registered, must pass customs clearance. The model and name and the price of the piece must clearly be registered in the invoice.
The incomplete declaration will result in administrative fines.
“The customs clearance for clothes and shoes was $3.25 while now they raise it for about six times. What consequences may it have? Price hike, closing our business. There are many people like me, we are paying taxes,” one of the protesters said.
The gathered people also said that the customs clearance of one of the importers made 316,000 AMD instead of previous 54,000 AMD.
“It is impossible to work in this way,” the protesters claimed, adding that they demand from the government representatives to come out and answer their questions.
