The statue of Heydar Aliev is a challenge to Russia
The installation of Heydar Aliev’s statue in Astrakhan is a challenge to Russian public, today said political scientist, head of the “Noravank” educational and scientific foundation Gagik Harutyunyan.
“I think that this is a challenge as far as Astrakhan is situated directly next to Dagestan and all the developments in North Caucasus, the separatist movement is associated also with the Azerbaijan and are fairly connected with that country,” the speaker said adding that the installation of the statue will not promote the thaw of Russian moods concerning Azerbaijan, “Just on the contrary, as many of Aliev’s steps this one as well will cause an opposite reaction and confrontation. It doesn’t seem a very smart step to “reproduce” such a statue throughout the world,” he added.
The speaker also highlighted that the installation of the statue will not have any influence over the Armenian – Russian relations.
