Bisharian: If Arthur Baghdasarian resigns, we will go into opposition
The head of Orinats Yerkir (OEK) parliamentary faction Ms. Heghine Bisharian said during a briefing today following the OEK political board’s sitting that OEK Party leader Arthur Baghdasarian did not resign as Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council (NSC).
“We continue to discuss all the issues. If a decision about Arthur Baghdasarian’s resignation as NSC Secretary is made, then we will go into opposition,” she said.
When asked how Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan reacted to the proposal to appoint Arthur Baghdasarian as prime minister, H. Bisharian replied: “I think the candidacy of Arthur Baghdasarian was not even discussed”.
Parliamentary deputies Hovhannes Margarian and Mher Shahgeldian also participated in the press conference.
The deputies declined to comment on Arthur Baghdasarian’s steps, considering it inappropriate. In their words, Arthur Baghdasarian will give a press conference on April 25 and respond to all questions.
As regards the compulsory accumulative pension system, H. Bisharian said their party has some proposals to be discussed.
“We are prepared to discuss our approaches and cooperate with all the political forces, be it opposition or the Republican Party of Armenia,” she declared.
As was reported earlier, following the sitting of its political board, OEK Party issued a statement saying that it considers its further participation in Armenia’s ruling coalition as problematic and inexpedient. The OEK political board made a decision to grant the applications of OEK Party members – Ministers Armen Yeritsian, Sergo Karapetian and Samvel Tadevosian for their withdrawal from OEK.
