Serzh Sargsyan: Competitive personnel needed for building strong state
Education predetermines the future. A national program becomes feasible only if it is bolstered with the opportunity to create human potential, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at the opening ceremony of Gyumri Technological Center, calling it a structure that symbolizes the prospects of technological development.
“Professional and competitive human resources are needed to build a strong state, and a high-quality educational system and an appropriate community of teachers are necessary to ensure that,” the president said.
He underlined the importance of re-manning the personnel with qualified experts and said when speaking about the further programs: “As part of the national program of excellence in education, a rich resource center will be set up to help harmonize domestic and international educational standards. Quality cannot be dictated from above - it should be in demand. No program will be crowned with success if public demand for it is absent”.
According to the head of state, a press conference with the participation of Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan will take place next week to inform the public about the programs.
“Rest assured that in a few years this program will be implemented to some extent and it will produce its results. I am sure it will play an important role for Armenia,” the president stated.
The Gyumri Technological Park (GTP) was set up though cooperation of the Armenian government, Enterprise Incubator Foundation and the World Bank. Under a government decision, in 2014 Enterprise Incubator Foundation was named the main operator of the GTP’s activity program.
The aim is to promote the city’s development and turn it into a technological zone equipped with modern scientific and innovation infrastructure, with large research centers and educational institutions located there.
