Nairit staff demanding unpaid salaries
A crowd of former and current employees Nairit on Tuesday rallied outside the Presidential Palace as part of their regular weekly demonstrations demanding unpaid salaries.
Many had headed to the protest site with T-shirts bearing the slogan “Payoff of Salary Debts”.
“No changes for now; the demands remain the same: payment of salaries and re-operation of the plant. So our protest actions will continue as long as all the problems aren’t resolved,” the company’s press secretary, Anush Harutyunyan, told our correspondent.
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, who hosted a delegation from the plant in his office on April 17, promised to have another meeting with them in late May. “May is now over, but we haven’t had a meeting,” Harutyunyan added.
Some of the protesters looked very desperate. “Our struggle is just. The plant is being plundered …,” said one of the employees.
