Six Georgians detained while crossing the South Ossetian border

Five Georgians were detained while crossing the South Ossetian border on Tuesday, Ossetian President’s deputy envoy for settlement to post-conflict situations, Merab Chigoev, told ITAR-TASS.

He said: “Five Georgians illegally stepped into the territory of the Znaursky region of the South Ossetia on May 18 and were detained by the police officers; that same day another person was detained for crossing the border, in the Tskhinvali region of the country.”

Another Russian media detailed the report, quoting Chigoev as saying that the frontier guards had before arrested two teenagers from Georgia, who were released after warning.

Ossetian officials are investigating the cases.
