Hunchakian Party declares suspended relations with ANC

The Social Democratic Hunchakian Party of Armenia (SDHP) has issued a statement denying any cooperation with oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC), whose leader is the first-sitting Armenian ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosian.

“The Social Democratic Hunchakian Party can’t be an appendage to any other political forces. The SDHP Central Board denies ANC’s intrusion into party’s internal affairs,” said in the statement.

“The Party considers the further cooperation with ANC to be impossible both in Armenia and abroad,” it said.

The SDHP also said that its policy and position of Armenian authorities, including their supporters in relation to issues of the Karabakh conflict and the Armenian-Turkish relations, are very different. According to party’s position, Armenia can overcome the crisis only moving from liberalism towards the social and democratic system.

“Changes in personalities can’t lead to positive results while preserving the system,” said the SDHP.
