Russia faces epidemic of deadly West Nile fever

Abnormal heat and drought of past 2 months triggered deadly West Nile fever epidemic in Russia, RBK reported.

According to the source, the administration of the Vologodskaya Region of Russia confirmed that the virus has already killed 5 people. 108 are infected with the disease in the region, 35 out of them were revealed last week.

The West Nile virus is a seasonal disease occurring in late summer and autumn. It is spread by mosquitos and ticks which are infected from virus bearing animals.
