Serzh Sargsyan receives Damtew Dessalegne

President Serzh Sargsyan today received Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Armenia Mr. Damtew Dessalegne, President’s press office reported.

President Sargsyan noted that the Armenian government and UNHCR Office in Armenia have been cooperating efficiently over two decades. He thanked the Office for supporting Armenian government’s efforts in integration of refugees and resolution of their problems.

President noted that their cooperation addresses resolution of apartment problems of refugees meanwhile saying that many refugee families still live in temporary dwellings.

Sargsyan and Dessalegne spoke about the cooperation plans between Armenia and UNHCR Office, particularly, attaching importance to the Donors Conference set to be held in 2011.

Serzh Sargsyan also addressed refugee problems of Artsakh. Saying that Armenia and Artsakh have never speculated on the refugee problem President expressed concern that they are not involved in UN refugee assistance programs.
