Women first-ever take majority in Swiss cabinet

Women now control a majority of the seats in Switzerland's cabinet, less than four decades after the country became one of Europe's last to grant women the right to vote in national elections. 

After election into government, Simonetta Sommaruga, 50, a Social Democrat, became the fourth female in the seven-member Federal Council.
